After driving for two and half years, I left the car and traveled to Europe for 10 months.When I returned, the a/c was not working. The service told me that the warranty is expired and I have to pay from my pocket. I sent an email to Ford Canada but the answer was the same. And now I am realizing that the same problem involves more people. Why there is no recall for this problem? Also there is rust on engine hood and door interiors. A very expensive car with many problems even before the warranty expiration...

I bought the Ford Explorer used. with 104,000. I am a foster parent and needed a 3rd row desperately. I traded my dream car for this piece of junk. I had the car less than a month and the heat and air went out. While wating to get that fixed, the water pump busted. It's an internal belt driven (timing belt!!!) water pump so it was a dealership fix only. It was covered under extended warrenty and got fixed thank heavens. I have had my car back only a month and now the transmission is going out. It's slipping and started doing so after Ford repair the water pump, which required driopping the drive shaft. And now my actuator in the dash has stopped working and will only work on defrost. This car is a LEMON. I will never buy another FORD. I did research on this vehicle and never read water pump issues until after it happened to me. The vehicle only has 107,600 miles and I'm getting rid of it.
At first it felt like it was missing. I had it to the mechanic and they couldn't determine the cause or reproduce it. That;s because the morons didn't drive it. How can one claim to not be able to reproduce the problem if it's not your car and your not used to the sounds it makes and you don't drive it?

AC wasn't getting cold on the hottest days of the year. Thought maybe a small leak and put Freon in and it leaked immediately. Called Ford but they wanted $123 just to look at the problem. I had it analyzed and it came back that the lines were corroded. There's no reason a 4 year old car should have corroded lines. The car stays in a heated garage in the winter. The cost to repair will be over $1,000. Parts are on back order which means others are having a problem as well,

It kills me to say this, but American cars absolutely suck. What's worse, is Ford and GM don't give a s*. Everyone knows that auto manufacturers make parts wear out, they are designed to wear out. But this is getting ridiculous! A car that lasts 5 years?? Are you freaking kidding me? These people SHOULD be ashamed but they don't give a s* because some poor unsuspecting soul who bought into the marketing bulls*, is walking into a dealership right now, ready to buy a new model. I have 3 more MAJOR repairs to report about this 1 s**y vehicle. My wife's family has owned more than 25 Fords over the past 50 years and we will absolutely NEVER buy another Ford again, period.

A/C stopped working while on vacation. When we took it to get assessed it turns out the compressor and ALL lines need to be replaced. One of the SO incredibly many issues that we have had with this vehicle.

The air conditioning stopped working on June 5, 2019. My appointment at the Ford dealer was June 11. They said that the Freon lines under the car had corroded and must be replaced. The parts have been on back order now for 4 weeks. Ford states the car is past the warranty period and are not responsible. This car is only 3 years old. I had a 2003 Chev Express van and the AC was perfect when I traded it in 2013. I also had a 2007 Chev Malibu and its AC was also working perfect when traded in 2017, 10 years later. This should not happen to 3 year old vehicle. It is obvious that all these vehicles have the same problem as the parts are unavailable. This should be covered under a recall to all owners as it si obviously a major defect.

Driving on the way to work and noticed the car got a little warmer, but didn't pay super attention to it as I had just made the AC warmer. (Not as warm as the air coming out). It sat in a parking lot that was straight sun and 92 degrees out. Got back in it and still had hot air coming out. Outside temp said -40 degrees. Dealership found that the wiring had never been placed in the correct wiring path or in the waterproofing material and that two wires crossed and shorted out the system. My 4 year old was completely soaked just riding 10 minutes in the car with the moonroof and all windows open for air flow!

I asked to make an appointment and was told it would be several days, put I could drop off the car, and maybe they could look at it sooner. I asked for a rental car or loaner, I was told they do not have that service.
After several days, I stopped by to get my door/gate opener, and after 1 hour, I was told they could not locate my car, they finely came up with the opener. I was not happy. It toke one week to get the part and fix it.
They did come through with a loner car after I talked to the manager. I am a big guy and the loaner was a small car, a get a little hot when I think I paid over $50k for my car, and I didn't have it to drive, If you have driven a Sport with a v-6 turbo you know you are not happy with a 4 cyc.

I love this 2016 Explorer. But there is a major problem with the AC condenser. After 9 months of owning the Explorer, the AC condenser went out. The dealer replaced it through the extended warranty. Less than a year later the same thing happened and then the warranty company didn't believe that Ford correctly fixed it so they had someone check on the 2nd replacement - this took almost 2 months of a nightmare back and forth. The 3rd time the dealer told me there was a puncture in the condenser and therefore it was not covered under warranty. I almost think they punctured it so that they could say that the condenser was not faulty.
Here we are one year later looking at replacing it again. I haven't brought it into the dealer, because I just don't know if they are trustworthy. I will take it to a highly rated mechanic elsewhere to have it checked out and then I will take it to the dealer since it is still under the extended warranty. Counting the original AC condenser, this will be the 5th one to be in this Explorer in less than 4 years. BTW, I don't do any off-roading, such that something would hit inside or outside of the car. Not normal right?
